The Secret Society of Souptown (2015) is one more movie that you should watch should you like mysterious story and brave kids. This movie of Estonia is brightly comedy and it has elements of risk and fantasy.

The main story is about a four kids from a picturesque but quite surreal village named Souptown. Very little happens to them, until, one day, a previously unknown virus starts mutating grown-ups into zombie-like beings. Yes, just when you thought that adult behaviour couldn’t get much stranger!

Our heroes are Olav, who is a technological whiz; Sadu, the logical one of the group; Anton, the youngster who provides humor; and Mari who’s intelligent, brave, and the natural leader. In an attempt to find the antidote and thus free their parents and the rest of the community members, the boys attempt solving a series of riddles left by a secret society that was buried in the past.

This is all rounded by a great story telling which provides the charm in the film. The children adventures contain tough puzzles and exciting pursuits in the beautiful scenery of Souptown. When there’s an attempt to describe it, you get the movie of National Treasure amazing itself with The Goonies and adding the European twist to it.

The jokes are practically coming from all over the place; this comedy only enhances the enjoyment of The Secret Society of Souptown. You can imagine the comedies involving Anton such as when he almost burned his pants and when he attempted to use a huge magnifying glass to look for clues. Sadu can be the group’s Hermione Granger if the witch from the Harry Potter series had a thing for bad wordplay. She also comes up with very hilarious one-liners that are geek in its finest The anticipation of the whole sequence is also so well built up.

The film also has something that can be considered as a touch of two hearts. The actual charm in this case is the physical proximity of youngsters. Despite their conflicting personalities they stand up for each other no matter what, and that is in what true friendship is about, standing by each other’s side no matter what – even a bunch of adult zombies.

In sum, TSS can be regarded as a bright example of the cinema humor combined with the adventurous and mysterious genres. It is perfect for a family that likes games such as the traditional hide and seek or seeks to have a movie night.
